BBC News to relaunch

It was beginning to look and feel old, so it’s about time for the BBC News website to relaunch:

News and sport pages will be developed with wider templates to allow a ‘more ambitious’ use of pictures and promote the new embedded video service. The BBC announced, earlier this month, that it would begin the migration of all its video content from a pop-up player to embedded Flash video player after an ‘encouraging’ set of experiments with the new system.

This will be very closely watched by the world’s broadcasters and news sites generally. In the meantime, you can play around with the Netvibes-inspired BBC homepage. Here the institution’s usability expert explains how they worked to make the new site accessible for all.
