Heart-rending from Baghdad

Some years ago, it was Salam Pax’s postings from Baghdad that transcended standard journalism and moved readers all over the world. Now, increasingly for me it’s the Baghdad Bureau blog of the New York Times and specifically Khalid al-Ansary. Read his despairing text written after a friend was killed in the latest market bombing:

God, are we all bad people here? If so, why do you not use your superior power to terminate this country. Or if not, why don’lt you help people to stay alive, next to their beloved.
