Adobe has come up with a way for the search engines to read SWF files and index all of the information they contain. That means any text or links in a Flash application can now be indexed.
Flash is a wonderful tool for website presentation, but it’s been a long and bumpy road. In news presentation, for example, Flash was used many years ago. One problem then was the slow internet connections that many users had. Later the “findability” issue loomed larger. If this means real, fast indexing of Flash (swf) files, that’s certainly excellent news. Maybe it will also help solve some of the accessibility issues concerning Flash?
